Verruca Needling - Before and After

Needling Dec 21

Verrucas are caused by the human papilloma virus and most people contract them at some point in their life. Although they can clear up on their own, they can also last for many years, are often unsightly and can be painful. There are a number of treatment options available, however the most successful by far is needling, which stimulates healing in up to 90% of my patients. Needling is intended to break down the verruca and create a controlled inflammatory response which, in turn stimulates the body's immune system to recognise the virus and destroy it. As this immune response is often systemic, treatment of only one verruca is required even where there are many lesions as spontaneous remission occurs in all, or most, verrucae at the same time. The procedure is carried out under a local anaesthetic with usually only mild soreness for a few days afterwards.

I have an excellent success rate in treating patients' verrucas and the vast majority of patients find that their verrucas clear over the months following needling. This usually takes between 4 and 8 months after the procedure.

If you are interested in having your verrucas needled please book a New Patient Appointment in the first instance. After discussing the procedure and carrying out appropriate assessments to ensure suitability for the procedure we will then book a mutually suitable date for the needling to take place.
